Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Advertising Jug with Bird Decoration, Stamped "FULPER BROS., / FLEMINGTON, N.J.," late 19th century, cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a cobalt bird perched on a branch, along with the advertising "Acker Merrall, & Condit Grocers." The inclusion of a bird design and makers mark on this jug make it one of the better examples of Fulper advertising stoneware we have seen. Includes an amber-colored glass flask, embossed "ACKER MERRALL & CONDIT / N.Y." Provenance: Tom McCandless Collection, Hopewell, NJ. Near mint condition with two small glazed-over spout chips to jug. H 10 3/4".
