Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crock, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG," circa 1890, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim, decorated with a brushed cobalt swag and flower design. Provenance: Descended in the family of Betty Cooley, the wife of potter, Richard Franklin "Polk" Bell. Vertical, in-the-firing separation on interior, visible as a 2" hairline from rim on exterior. A second in-the-firing separation, visible on interior. Horizontal hairline extending around much of base. H 12 1/4".
