Extremely Rare Diminutive Salt-Glazed Stoneware PICKLES Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1810, approximately one-quart, finely-potted jar with rounded foot, tooled shoulder, and flaring flattened rim. Front impressed with Clarkson Crolius, Sr. mark, and reverse impressed "PICKLES" in large letters. Albany slip glazed interior. The smallest signed Crolius jar we have ever offered. Provenance: Sanford Smith, New York, New York. 1 1/8" flake off underside at edge. 1 1/2" in-the-firing line from rim on reverse. Also a 3" faint horizontal line in body, which occurred in the firing. Small rim chip and a few minor rim nicks. H 6 3/4".
