Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to John P. Schermerhorn, Richmond, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated front and back with an undulating vine bearing three circular blossoms. Cobalt brushed across tops of handles and "2" brushed underneath handles. Provenance: From a thirty-year VA collection. Contact mark on one side. Scattered light exfoliation to one side. Small, shallow chip to end of one handle. H 11 3/4".
