Unusual Westerwald Stoneware Jug, German origin, circa 1740, ovoid jug with narrow neck and applied handle, decorated with incised bands, impressed flower and overlapping circle designs, and incised zig-zagging lines. Bands and impressed designs highlighted in cobalt slip. Neck with threaded interior, perhaps to hold a srew-on cap. Jug was possibly used for medicine storage. Excellent condition with a small spout chip and small contact mark on left side. H 7".
