Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Dog Decoration, probably Brady & Ryan, Ellenville, NY, circa 1860, straight-sided crock decorated with a slip-trailed dog reclining on a hill. Dog is depicted with turned head, curved tail, and spotted body, and is girded by tall grasses or a stump on the right and a bush on the left. Hill or lawn accented with numerous dashed trails of cobalt. An unusual and attractive animal decoration. Vertical separation line near base on reverse, continuing 6" onto underside. A few small rim chips. One handle chip. Stone ping on reverse. Height 10 3/4".
