Very Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Bowl with the Cobalt Inscription "Benedict & Co.," attributed to William Porter, Pleasantville (then called Benedictown), Venango Co., PA, 2nd quarter 19th century, approximately half-gallon, tapered bowl bearing the inscription "Benedict & Co." in large cobalt script. Likely made during a partnership between the founder of Benedictown, Aaron Benedict, and potter, William Porter. A few minor rim chips. Salt drips to surface. Short separation line from rim. H 4 1/2" ; Diameter (at opening) 7 3/8".
