Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Open Handles and Incised Foliate Decoration, Crolius or Remmey Family, Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, approximately one-gallon ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and open loop handles, decorated with an incised and cobalt-filled foliate design on the front and back. Desirable small size. Large curving crack from rim on one side with small chip out of surface of midsection. Thin cracks in underside, extending up side of jar 4" in one place and 1" in another. Approximately 4" hairline from rim. Stone ping on underside. Small rim chips. H 9 1/4".
