Very Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Bank with Bird Finial, probably John Nase, Tylersport, Montgomery County, PA, circa 1830-1850, ovoid bank with rounded foot and hand-modeled finial in the form of a long-tailed bird. Half of surface decorated with drips of cream-colored slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. Exceptional form. Wear to left and right of slot. A few small glaze flakes elsewhere on bank itself. Glaze wear to bird's head and tail. Two glaze flakes on bird's wing and one flake on neck. H 6 1/2".
