Squat-Shaped Stoneware Jar with Incised Decoration, Remmey or Crolius Family, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, small-sized ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and open loop handles, decorated on the front and back with an incised foliate design filled with cobalt slip. Desirable size, form, and decoration. 3 1/2" crack from rim. 1 1/2" line on underside, extending 1 3/4" up base of jar, which is not visible on interior. Additional faint line extending up from base, a portion of which is barely visible on interior. Chip on exterior of rim and small chips on interior of rim. Three small base chips. H 7".
