Extremely Rare Eight-Sided Stoneware Flask with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1835, wheel-thrown flask with pronounced foot and spout, the form fashioned with eight flattened sides. Decorated on the front and back with two large, brushed cobalt tulips. Sides decorated with brushed cobalt leaves. Additional cobalt around base and decorating the spout. Possibly an early example of Perine stoneware. Exceptional form with strong decoration. Essentially as-made condition with bubbling to cobalt, salt drip to shoulder, and a small in-the-firing spout chip. H 7".
