Rare Open-Handled Stoneware Cooler with Incised Floral Decoration, Stamped "GOODWIN & WEBSTER / HARTFORD," circa 1810, approximately five-gallon ovoid form with rounded foot, open loop handles, and tall narrow collar. Decorated with an incised and cobalt-filled wreath around the maker's mark on the front and reverse decorated with a large incised and cobalt-filled floral design with overlapping petals. Incised flower head decoration under one handle. Outstanding form and finely-executed decoration. Restored bung hole. Stone ping near base under one handle, which connects to an X-shaped hairline, which measures approximately 10" x 7". Base chips and a 2" restored base chip. 1 1/2" chip on underside. Rim chips. H 17 1/2".
