Rare Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Water Cooler, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, cylindrical vessel with rounded bung hole, tooled shoulder, and ribbed lug handles, decorated with a horizontal brushed cobalt tulip design. Additional wavy stripe and hanging flower decoration at shoulder and a leaf above the cobalt-highlighted bung hole. Reverse decorated with horizontal tulips and a swag and hanging flower motif at the shoulder. Restoration to several cracks, including some of decoration. Restoration visible on bung hole. H 17".
