Rare Matched Pair of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Chicken Waterers, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, each of domed cylindrical form with tiered finial and open watering area in front, decorated with leafy cobalt brushwork around the opening, two leaves on the reverse, and cobalt around the finial. A rare and desirable American stoneware form. One with chips to opening, chip to finial, and a salt drip to finial and reverse. Other with chip to finial, chips to opening, and 1 7/8" x 7/8" base flake on reverse. H 8".
