Small Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cream Jar, Signed in Script "G.N. Fulton," Alleghany County, VA, circa 1875, approximately one-gallon semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, decorated with a brushed cobalt flower surrounded by flourishes. The maker's signature "G.N. Fulton" is written below between rows of cobalt swags. This Fulton form is somewhat more unusual than his cylindrical crocks and canning jars. Desirable small size. Two rim chips and a 1 1/2" rim flake. Vertical crack from rim. H 5 3/4" ; Diameter (across top) 7 1/2".
