Two-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Profuse Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and thin, flattened rim, decorated with alternating straight and wavy stripes of cobalt, and an oversized script cobalt 2 flanked by and underscored by cobalt stripes. A visually-appealing example of Western PA stripe decoration. 2 1/4" rim chip with a 4 3/4" hairline descending vertically from it. Some light bubbling to cobalt. A shallow base chip, which may have occurred in the making. H 9 1/2".
