Glazed Redware Handled Bowl, American, probably Pennsylvania origin, 19th century, large-sized bowl with tapered sides, tooled shoulder, and applied handles, the interior decorated with large daubs of sponged manganese and coated in clear lead glaze. Glaze wear to interior. Two rim chips. Small base chip. Expected light surface wear to exterior. Provenance: William Kelly Young Collection. Christie's, Oct. 1 1988, Sale 6666.
