Extremely Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Rhino Head Decoration, Stamped "F. WOODWORTH / BURLINGTON, VT.," circa 1870, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a cobalt design of a rhino's head with long horn extending from its snout. This churn is the only example of a rhino decoration in American stoneware we are aware of. 8 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on front. 11 1/2" and 8 1/2" vertical hairlines on front. 12" spider crack from rim on left side of churn. 2 1/2" hairline above one handle. Long vertical line on interior of churn, which does not go through to exterior. Two rim chips. H 17 1/4"
