Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crock, Midwestern origin, circa 1880, straight-sided crock with tooled shoulder and applied handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt "4" underscored by a "bee stinger" design ending in a pointed, leaf-like tail. Faint 2" line on front and faint 3" under one handle. Both lines are in surface only, and likely occurred during the firing. Chip to interior of rim. H 12 1/4".
