Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Bird Decoration, possibly Midwestern origin, circa 1860, semi-ovoid churn with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a crested bird with fan-shaped tail, perched on a leafy branch. Two rim chips. Expected wear from use on interior. Faint hairline on underside, extending onto base and continuing horizontally on reverse side of churn. H 15 1/2".
