Rare Tanware Flowerpot with Albany Slip Bird Decorations, probably NY State, circa 1875, tapered pot with coggled rim and attached saucer, decorated with three large birds applied in slip-trailed Albany slip. Additional Albany slip bands to shoulder and dashes along saucer. Though tanware is primarily known as a product of Pennsylvania, and occasionally Ohio, the overall style of the birds on this flowerpot suggest it was made in New York State. Highly unusual decoration for tanware. From a long-time Ohio collection. Two rim chips. H 5 1/2".
