Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, probably W. Roberts, Binghamton, NY, circa 1870, straight-sided crock with flattened rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a crested bird perched on the stem of a morning glory vine. Slip-trailed 3 above decoration. Large 4 1/2" base flake on reverse. 9 3/4" inverted Y-shaped crack on reverse, extending onto underside. 4 1/4" crack from rim on front. 1 1/2" rim chip. H 10".
