Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, probably Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, large-sized ovoid pitcher with applied strap handle and tooled rim and shoulder, decorated on the front with two brushed cobalt clovers or flowers connected to long leafy stems. Spout decorated with cobalt stripes and collar decorated with cobalt swags. Restoration to spout. Restoration to curving crack under right side of decoration which curves down towards base and onto underside. Approximately 7" hairline at base extending around to reverse side of pitcher. Restored base chip. H 14".
