Very Rare Small-Sized Redware Creamer, Stamped "BAECHER / WINCHESTER, VA," circa 1885, finely-thrown, ovoid-waisted creamer with applied strap handle, decorated with an attractive marbled manganese glaze over cream-colored slip. Underside impressed with Anthony Baecher maker's mark. Excellent color and exceptional size. Pictured in Wiltshire's Folk Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley and Comstock"s Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region. One rim chip and one spout chip. Spots of glaze loss to rim and handle. A few small spots of glaze loss elsewhere on pitcher. H 4 1/2".
