Very Rare Miniature Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to George N. Fulton, Alleghany Co., VA, circa 1870, ovoid pitcher with tooled midsection and applied strap handle, decorated in cobalt with a flower surrounded by leafy flourishes. Dashed cobalt decoration around midsection. Additional cobalt leaf designs on collar. Swag-like brushwork in three vertical lines along spout. Pitchers produced by Fulton are considered rare. The size of this example makes it truly exceptional. Dryness to cobalt. Tiny chip on interior of spout. Height 3 1/2".
