Phenomenal Four-Gallon Early Greensboro, PA, Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Freehand Cobalt Decoration, circa 1860, straight-sided crock with handles and incised lines around midsection, decorated with freehand cobalt vining and numerous straight and wavy stripes. Freehand "4" near base with cobalt outline and circle of dots, flanked by a series of cobalt stripes. Handle terminals decorated. Exceptional color and decoration. In-the-making, glazed-over handle chip. Minor wear to opposite handle. Height 15".
