Rare Anna Pottery "Shoo Fly" Jug with Applied African-American Woman and Fly, attributed to Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna Pottery, Anna, Illinois, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jug with Albany slip glaze and hand-modeled figure of an African-American woman in a skirt holding onto the shoulder of the jug. Figure of woman unglazed with painted brown, black, and blue surface. In front of woman is an applied fly. Above fly are the incised words "Shoo Fly" apparently coming from the woman"s mouth. Below the woman"s dress are the incised words "The Original Package." Woman anatomically correct. Large loss to skirt. Otherwise excellent condition. Height 5 3/4".
