Like other states whose stoneware industry was tied heavily to western expansion, Texas's key stoneware manufacturers had trained elsewhere and brought the styles of other regions to the Lone Star State. Anna Pottery in Illinois is seen in his elaborate snake jugs; and Jefferson S. Nash, whose alkaline-glazed stoneware is rooted in the
Edgefield, South Carolina pottery tradition.
