Rare Two-Piece Sewer Tile Bust Sculpture of a Hatted Man, probably OH origin, late 19th or early 20th century, hand-molded and glazed sculpture in the form of a man's bust with incised eyes, eyebrows, and mouth, including its original, individually-fired and removeable hat with flattened top and brim, possibly indicating the figure was meant to represent a baseball player or railroad worker. The two-piece construction of this work is most unusual. Provenance: Illustrated in Adamson, Handbook of Ohio Sewer Pipe Folk Art. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H (including hat) 6".
