Very Rare Five-Gallon Stoneware Advertising Water Cooler with Cobalt Decoration, Inscribed "N.C. Bryant / DRESDEN OHIO," Muskingum County, OH origin, circa 1880, ovoid form with semi-rounded rim, two open strap handles at shoulder, and tubular pouring spout at base, featuring a brushed cobalt inscription advertising the Muskingum County, Ohio, grocer Newton C. Bryant: "N.C. Bryant / DRESDEN OHIO." Decorated below with a stenciled "5" within a sunburst. Cobalt band to shoulder. Cobalt highlights to front edge of bunghole and handle terminals, including a stripe of cobalt over the lower terminal. Chips to bunghole. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing base chip to reverse. Some traces of old blue paint to surface. H 16".
