Rare Pair of Multi-Glazed Redware Cream Pitchers, attributed to S. Bell & Sons or J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, both of squat-shaped form with footed bases, ovoid body, and wide, flaring collars, decorated with pastel green copper and light brown manganese splashes over cream-colored slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. The matching height, form, and glaze treatment on these pitchers indicate they were likely made on the same day, possibly as a pair. One pitcher with some wear to rim, spout, handle, and foot, as well as a small in-the-firing contact mark to handle. Other pitcher with a 1 1/4" chip to interior of rim, wear to spout and two spots of wear to rim, a small in-the-firing contact mark to handle, two minor chips to foot, a minor chip to underside. H (of each) 5 5/8".
