Small-Sized Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Coggled Bird-and-Leaf Motif, attributed to Branch Green, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1820, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated around the shoulder with a coggled and cobalt-highlighted design of a bird holding a leafy branch in its beak. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing rim chip and a small in-the-firing chip to underside. Rim was misshapen during the firing. H 8 3/8".
