Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Horse Head Decoration, Albany, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a stylized horse head flanked by slashes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a 5/8" in-the-firing chip to top of handle and a 1" glazed-over iron ping to handle including a faint horizontal line extending through the handle. H 14 3/4".
