Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES.UTICA.," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. An in-the-firing iron ping to left of bird. Small base chips. Minor wear to left of maker's mark and a minor flake to right of maker's mark. In-the-firing glazed-over surface lines in handle. H 14".
