Scarce Bristol Slip Glazed Stoneware Spaniel on Base, possibly A.P. Donaghho, Parkersburg WV, circa 1880, molded seated spaniel on octagonal base, the figure with incised details to face and paws, decorated with cobalt and Albany slip spots, cobalt collar and locket, and Albany-slip-decorated ears and tail. Base decorated with cobalt dashes. Pen inscription on underside reads "Keep in Familey". A particularly fine example. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, which reportedly descended in the family of a pottery employee in the West Virginia area. Excellent, as-made condition. H 9 3/4".
