Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Bird Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA, circa 1865, straight-sided form decorated with a folky bird on ground. The bird with cobalt-dotted wing and long tail highlighted with dashes, standing on a patch of ground also highlighted with cobalt dashes. A 5" tight line extends from rim downward. Some tiny, shallow knicks on the body of the crock. A few tiny knicks on the rim. Height 8".
